The main purpose
Borax has a wide range of uses. It can be used as a filler for washing powder and soap. It is also a raw material for manufacturing optical glass, enamel and enamel, and it can also be used to make artificial gems and solders. After being refined and refined, it can be used as a heat-clearing and detoxifying medicine, which is cool in nature, sweet and salty in taste, and can treat throat swelling and pain, malnutrition, aphthous ulcers, and pansies.
When borax melts, it becomes a colorless glass-like substance, which is used to make special optical glass. It can dissolve some metal oxides in the molten state, and show characteristic colors according to different metals. For example, when cobalt oxide is dissolved, it is dark blue due to the formation of Co(BO2)2, Cu(BO2)2 is blue, Cr(BO2)3 is green, and MnO2·2B2ChemicalbookO3 is purple. Therefore, the borax bead experiment can be used to identify metal ions in analytical chemistry. This property is also applied to the enamel and glass industry, using the above glaze or coloring; also used for artificial gems. Borax is used as a flux when welding metals to remove oxides on the metal surface. Borax aqueous solution is alkaline and can be used as a filler for soap and washing powder. Used medically as an antiseptic. Chinese medicine is used as a heat-clearing and detoxifying medicine. In the chemical industry, it is the raw material for manufacturing series of boron compounds. Borax solution is used as plant fertilizer. The leftovers (magnesium hydroxide and borax mother liquor) of borax are reacted with sulfuric acid to obtain a mixture of boric acid and magnesium sulfate, namely boron magnesium fertilizer. Borax is also a raw material for making boric acid.
